Regional Autism LCC Summit 2019: Central LCC Chapter

Indianapolis, IN | July 17, 2019

(Indianapolis, IN) HANDS in Autism® engaged a diverse pool of individuals from the Central Indiana area to take part in the first of several Regional Autism Local Community Cadre (LCC) Summits on July 17, 2019 at the IUPUI campus in Indianapolis, IN. The Regional Autism LCC Summit provided a forum for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), family members, caregivers, providers, professionals and other community stakeholders across Marion, Hancock, Hamilton, Shelby, Johnson, Morgan, Hendricks and Putnam Counties to provide input regarding the next phase of evolution of the state’s LCCs.

The goal of the LCC Summit is to use data from research, ongoing statewide assessments, and local community input to inform the process such that LCCs help to directly enhance, support and grow local community capacity to address the needs of individuals with ASD and their families, caretakers and providers. Additionally, the group will explore how LCCs can best contribute to the support and advancement of collective statewide initiatives.

HANDS in Autism® invites community stakeholders, who live or work in the Central LCC Region, and are interested in being involved in an expanding network to support the growth of local capacity and join in state-level initiatives.

The Regional Autism LCC Summit 2019 provides a forum for us to get together as a larger group to brainstorm and discuss current gaps and needs—and problem solve how together we can best inform and support professionals and families. We will develop initial action planning steps that will help us enrich and guide LCC efforts within the LCC regions.

The Regional Autism LCC Summit 2019 is open to current members as well as non-members who see the ASD need in their community and are ready to inform and engage in order to better the lives of those with ASD and their families—locally and statewide. To make the event more applicable and targeted to the needs of diverse communities, we will hold Summits across the eight different LCC regions. However, if you or your organization function across multiple regions in Indiana, it is possible that representatives currently working in those areas will attend more than one Regional Summit.
