North Webster’s Path to Inclusion: Tracking Growth with HANDS Module-Based Rubrics

The HANDS Learning Curriculum is built on evidence-based strategies proven to support individuals with autism and related disabilities. These practices create predictable, organized environments that reduce anxiety and promote independence. The curriculum focuses on six key modules: physical structure, visual structure, schedules, work systems, choreography, and implementation supports. Each module plays a critical role in shaping a classroom environment that is structured and supportive. 

Recent data from Wawasee shows strong progress in physical structure, choreography, and implementation supports, with these modules approaching or surpassing the 80 percent benchmark. Improvements in visual structure and schedules indicate positive momentum toward full integration. These gains reflect the school’s commitment to applying evidence-based practices that foster success for all learners. 

As a HANDS Collaborative Site, Wawasee serves as a demonstration hub for evidence-based practices. Collaborative sites partner with HANDS in Autism® to receive coaching, feedback, and hands-on training, ensuring strategies are replicable and sustainable. These sites not only benefit their own students but also provide opportunities for other schools to observe the HANDS Model in action.
