This is a picture of 3 animals enjoying some time by a big, peaceful river, with the sun shining on the trees. One deer, one Toucan, and a Rabbit play among moss covered logs. Ruby is a 9 year old girl who LOVES creating art! She has dozens of sketchbooks that are completely full. Her favorite things to draw are dragons. Ruby has a very special relationship with her therapist, Mrs. MD., and her BCBA, Mrs.SA. They’re who encouraged Ruby to enter this picture!

My instant thought-I want to help awareness of autism and why it is possibly so overwhelming to make choices or to transition and the importance of knowing now and next. I have control of my now and next, other people have it imposed on them. I am 39 years old and a teacher. I have autism and other co-morbid conditions. This is what I see all at once if asked to look after my children. It could be anything though. I chose this at random. I see all the links. It’s like breathing in air from a room full of air and then it all meets at one center point in the lungs. I have tried to draw my instant thought.

Couper James Kersey Age: 14 Grade: 8 Inspiration: Couper has always had a unique perspective and appreciation of animals. He has always had a strong passion for drawing/creating artwork that includes animals with different expressions interacting with each other. He often receives compliments on his creations and examples can be found around the school building. This particular canvas example shows an eclectic group of animals enjoying each other in harmony. Each animal is able to be comfortable in the presence of each other. Smiles can be seen by all as they look in different directions interacting with each other in this environment. Emotions being expressed via facial expressions or body language is often understated or simply ignored. Couper is very perceptive of emotions, and sympathetic to expressions of emotion. Using art, he is able to demonstrate social interactions that are clearly interpreted and understood. Thank you to Indiana University as well as all the Art Teachers for taking the time to facilitate an opportunity for those on the Autism Spectrum to express and share their talents and gifts. It is truly appreciated.

Autism Portrait. Understanding autism is not an easy task. I have captured what it might feel like to be autistic while having a meltdown. I recognize that each individual is different and there can be many conflicting and overwhelming emotions associated with autism. I have captured a particular aspect that I think will garner great interest, spark conversation, and create reflection in those who view the work. The medium is ink on paper. It was scanned and signed digitally. David is the father of autistic children. In this drawing he seeks to understand and captured the feeling of an autistic person having a meltdown.

I love the way the rainbows are organized and the way they perfectly fall in line with each other. The colors have a great variety and each are just as unique. AJ loves art activities! It is one of his favorite things to do at HANDS. He loves the colors of the rainbow and the way they all come together to make something beautiful.

I was feeling closed in for so long and in this moment, I wanted to project the sense of relief I had on paper. I wanted the intimacy of using traditional methods like watercolors and pens.

I was experimenting with drawing birds. I love the colors and the looseness of this one. I'm a 32-year-old autistic artist and researcher from the UK. I enjoy using lots of different mediums to be creative, including digital and crochet. Aimee Shepherd I'm a 32 year old autistic artist and researcher from the UK. I wanted to create something useful and special for my cousin's birthday. I decided to crochet a blanket. She's a goth and loves everything dark and gritty.

Lost in a Dream by Addie
We all escape in our dreams, even simple dreams, when we sleep we dream. the sun goes to sleep and the moon wakes up, what is the sun dreaming about, thats what's so great about dreams is that we live in our own imaginary world. I am Addie and I am 19 years old and want to be an artist someday, I like to do cartoons and abstract pieces, and I like to experiment on art styles

These ocean blobs represent tears. We cry a lot, but some of us cry constantly because of depression and burn out; but it also comes from when you let your anger go, and some of us cry when we're angry or when some are coming out of escaping suicide and are on the edge. we cry when we feel hurt, angry or any type of emotion. Crying is not just sadness, it enacts the every emotion, you can feel empty, happy, bored, or even confused or frustrated, and even scared, crying enacts every single emotion in the book and it happens every day for a lot of people, it happens to everyone; Moral of this piece of artwork: It's okay to cry and feel however your feeling. suicide, self-harm, drugs, binge drinking alcohol isn't the answer, Crying isn't a weakness, crying makes you stronger.
